For this spring Michelin is launching the Michelin Cross Climate 2, which promises to offer good performance in summer and to be safe for harsh winters. This new Michelin product is a 4-season approved for Quebec winters and featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol. This type of tire is increasingly popular in Canada and is the perfect choice for those who do not do a lot of mileage or have several vehicles .

Compared to most of its rivals whose slick sole sometimes resembles a summer tire, that of the CrossClimate 2 incorporates more aggressive blocks. In our tests, handling and braking distances in both dry and wet were among the best.

Created with changing weather conditions in mind, this tire incorporates an effective blend of summer and winter technologies that deliver performance indicative of "Michelin Total Performance". According to Michelin, the unique structure and tread are the key elements that make the CrossClimate a tire of excellence.

The Michelin Cross Climate 2 has two main layers: the first layer constitutes the tread; the second layer, which is directly below the first, limits heat transfer into the tire. The tire's distinctive V-tread pattern and high-performance self-locking 3D sipes give it excellent dry handling and improved snow traction. The V-shaped tread patterns interlock at three different angles to provide optimized grip in snow, such as claws, with the sipes increasing traction and improving the braking performance of the tire. The rubber of the tire is made up of a special blend of compounds that gives it excellent grip in summer and winter. It also has a high amount of silica under the tread, which contributes to the tire's low rolling resistance.
